Senior Management

Paul B. Loyd, Jr.

Paul B. Loyd Jr. is a Manager of Loyd and Associates. Mr.Loyd served as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of R&B Falcon Corporation, the world’s largest offshore drilling company from December 1997 until its merger in January 2001 with Transocean Sedco Forex. From April 1991 until December 1997, Mr. Loyd was Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Reading & Bates Corporation. During that period, he formed Reading & Bates Development Company which engaged in offshore oil and gas exploration and production, as well as the design and engineering of offshore production systems. Prior to that time, he served as Assistant to the President of Atwood Oceanics International, President of Griffin-Alexander Company, and Chief Executive Officer of Chiles-Alexander International, Inc. all of which are companies in the offshore drilling industry. Mr. Loyd has served as an Executive-In-Residence for J.P Morgan Capital Partners and as a consultant to the Government of Saudi Arabia and was founder and Principal of Jones, Loyd and Webster, Inc. an investment company focusing on the energy industry. Mr. Loyd is the founder and was a member of the Board of Directors of Carrizo Oil & Gas, Inc. (Now merged with Callon Petroleum a NYSE-listed company) engaged in oil and gas exploration and production. He served as a director of Holly Frontier Oil Corporation, a NYSE-listed company engaged in crude oil refining and wholesale marketing of refined petroleum products. Mr. Loyd was also a director of Transocean Inc., and international offshore drilling company. He served on the Board of Directors of Enterprise Oil PLC, a London stock exchange listed oil and gas company.

Mr. Loyd serves on the Board of Trustees of Southern Methodist University and the Executive Board of the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University. He earned a degree in Economics from Southern Methodist University where he was also the captain of the football team. He earned a Master of Business Administration from the Harvard Business School. Paul and his wife Penny reside in Houston and have five children who reside in various places.

Kelly Loyd

Kelly W. Loyd is a manager of Petralis Energy Resources, an equity analyst consultant to JVL since 2004 and a manager of Loyd and Associates, an angel/private equity investment firm. Mr. Loyd serves as a manager and on the board of several Loyd and Associates portfolio companies with interests ranging from energy to commercial real estate to alternative financing.

Mr. Loyd spent several years in energy investment banking ( Jefferies, RBC Capital Markets, HFBE ) where he and his team excelled, specializing in E&P and oil field service high yield debt and M&A. Mr. Loyd is a Director of Evolution Petroleum Corporation, an AMEX-listed (“EPM”) exploration and production company. Mr. Loyd received a Bachelor of Science in Economics with Finance Applications degree from Southern Methodist University and a Masters of Business Administration from the Jesse H. Jones Graduate School of Management at Rice University.

Kelly and his wife Shawnna live in Houston, TX with their children Jackson and Emma Rose.

David Pena

David F. Pena is the Managing Director of Petralis Energy Resources. Prior to Petralis, Mr.Pena was the Director of Corporation Engineering at Aurora Oil and Gas, where he helped lead the company to a successful sale to Baytex Energy for 2.9BUSD. Prior to farming Petralis Energy Resources, David spent years working for ConocoPhillips Applied Technology group in various roles, expanding to worldwide well testing manager as well as Senior Reservoir Engineer secondee in China, Norway and Australia.

Mr. Pena was born in Arlington Virginia, lived in Venezuela and has been living in the Houston area since 2005. Mr. Pena received his Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from the Universidad de Oriente in 2003. He graduated cum laude. He completed his professional development in the SUPRID program of Stanford University in 2006.

David is father of twin boys David Jr. and Martin.
